Today, I put myself on my own schedule and I didn't cancel it. I have a hard time slowing down from 100 mph to zero. My recommendation - try it twice if you've never done it. My anxiety is much better since I started floating, and I am so glad we have this service in Valdosta. I have made this a regular part of my routine. This is what it means to be pampered! It's luxurious! ![]() Within moments, I was back at the beach without a care in the world. I knew what to expect and relaxed much more easily. The second time I floated, the awkwardness was gone. Taking a cue from Stephanie, I went back the next week to try it again. Before you know it, you feel like you're at the beach, floating at the edge of the ocean. Eventually, you settle in, realize you won't "go under," and close your eyes. If you've never done this before, especially if you're an anxious person, it's awkward at first - moving around the pod (it's huge, by the way) - wondering where to put your arms and how to keep your head on the water, playing with the light options, trying to make yourself relax. Stephanie was right - I didn't relax easily at first. A staff member walked me through what I'd need to do since this was all a new experience. So, when Stephanie said that it may take a couple times or so to get acclimated and not to expect to completely relax right away, I thought to myself, no problem there. Now, I have clinical anxiety, and I do not relax easily as a general rule. So, I went in tentative, but keeping an open mind to see what the hype was all about. So when Serenity Springs opened, I had to try it for myself. I had heard about the wonders of "floating" from friends and family, but I just was unconvinced about how this could be so great.
